Becoming a Member

Picture
Wallingford Photographic Club was established in the 1960s.  While a few members can remember the early days, most of us joined much later and all are proud to be part of a group of people sharing one passion – photography.

Whether you work with a smartphone, digital compact camera or prefer the intricacies of the SLR or medium format cameras, you will be made welcome at our club meetings.

Our members have a wide range of interests, which include; landscapes, architecture, portraiture, travel, still-life, abstracts, aviation, nature and underwater photography.

The club regularly invites guest speakers who present and discuss their images on a wide range of topics such as macro photography, studio portraiture, landscapes, lighting for still-life, use of artistic plug-ins for Photoshop etc.

In addition to our outside speakers, our own members often participate in presenting and sharing images in their own areas of interest and expertise.

We also participate in competitions where members are encouraged to enter images for critiquing by an external judge.  This is an opportunity to learn from the hints and tips given by an outside expert on both your own and other members’ submissions.

So, whether you like to work in monochrome or colour prints or purely digital images, there will be a competition section for you.

The emphasis is on learning and having fun.  We run regular practical evenings coving a variety of subjects from getting your camera off auto to basic editing in Lightroom to portrait photography studio session and much more.
For the more competitive of you, there are annual club trophies to be aiming for.

A very reasonable membership fee entitles you to attend every meeting, enter all the competitions and join any club outings.  The latter may be subject to extra payments.

The club is keen to encourage Junior Members, with a minimum age limit of 14. We require a guardian to accompany anyone from 14 to 16, and will advise all Junior Members under 18 in the unlikely event that we consider there may be unsuitable content on a particular evening, which would make it inappropriate for them to attend.

Joining the Club
We'll be pleased to have you as a member. Simply visit our Membership system and fill in the application form. All instructions are to be found there.
Once your membership has been confirmed you will be added to our mailing list where you'll be able to receive club related information and news.

If you are unable or unsure about becoming a full member, you are welcome to join us for a nominal fee per meeting.
