Wallingford Photographic Club Programme 2021-2022
Clearly the last season was held via Zoom entirely. It is the committee's hope that we will be able to hold some meetings in the pavilion this season, depending on demand, our ability to manage this effectively and support of our speakers, judges and hosts.
We will start the season with a number of online Zoom based events, which have worked well last season, and transition to physical meetings as conditions allow. It is our intention that an online alternative will be offered for physical meetings, where we will operate a 'hybrid model', enabling online participants to join in with physical meetings remotely. The team has been working hard to make this possible over the summer and we think we have it cracked. But bear with us if things don't go quit to plan!
The bottom line Is that regardless of whether you attend in person or remotely, our goal is that you should be able to enjoy full participation, wherever you are.
The 21/22 programme Is as follows:

Steve Brabner will speak about Taking Images and Making Images
Steve says: " I love experimenting with creative, post-processing techniques and no two of my pictures are alike. 'Taken' images (ie captured in a single exposure with minimal adjustment) still predominate in club competitions but images constructed or enhanced in the computer are prevalent at national and international levels. I will share my techniques and images with you - the ones that succeeded and the ones that nearly did." Online via Zoom |

Speaker - Robert Harvey - "Stumbling about in the Dark"
Digital photography enables us to capture the beauty of the night sky in unprecedented detail. In this evening of landscape astrophotography, I show how to use an ordinary digital single lens reflex camera to make stunning images of stars, planets, earth's moon and the Milky Way, as well as more elusive astronomical phenomena such as meteors and comets. In the second half, I recount travels in the arctic in search of the aurora borealis and on four continents to photograph total solar eclipses.
About Robert Harvey
Professional photographer Robert Harvey holds the Excellence award of the Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique. He is inspired by remote locations such as coasts, mountains and deserts, where untamed land is sculpted by natural elements. HIs photographic schedules are often dictated by sunrise, sunset, moon, tides and weather.
Based in Wiltshire, Robert leads photography tours throughout Britain, as well as overseas. He regularly lectures to specialist photographic audiences around the country and is the author of several books on photography and astronomy including “Photographing the Heavens” (2019), “Photographing Wiltshire” (2020) and "Britain's Best Landscapes and How to Photograph Them" (2021).

Picks, Tips, Tricks and Kit
We all have our favourite piece of gear or a golden tip that you wished you knew earlier. Sometimes the kit and tip come together to make a very special picture. Whichever it is, the Pics, Tips and Kit segment gives members an opportunity to wax lyrical about their favourite picture, their best tip and the kit they won't leave home without. Feel free to freestyle or come prepared with a slide deck to share. To kick us off, Alastair will be sharing his tips for always having the right camera settings to hand, interchangeable West Coast camera accessories and time permitting, a photo or two.
You will be able to share your screen in order to take part.
There will be a quiz and invitation to enter the Christmas raffle as well as general discussion and will be held via Zoom.
